Blood Test Panels

We offer a range of blood test panels to help identify potential underlying factors associated with hair loss, hair thinning, and scalp health. These tests help the doctor assess your overall health and determine appropriate treatment options based on your individual needs.

1. Basic Hair Panel

Tests: CBC, Ferritin, Vitamin D, Zinc, Vitamin B12, TSH, Free T4, VDRL

Evaluates common blood, nutritional, thyroid, and other health factors that may contribute to hair loss or thinning.

  1. CBC: Checks blood cell levels and may help identify anemia.
  2. Ferritin: Measures iron stores in the body.
  3. Vitamin D: Assesses vitamin D levels, which are relevant to overall health and hair follicle function.
  4. Zinc: Checks zinc levels, an essential mineral for normal hair growth.
  5. Vitamin B12: Assesses vitamin B12 levels, which are important for red blood cell production and normal cell function.
  6. TSH and Free T4: Evaluate thyroid function, as thyroid disorders may contribute to hair loss.
  7. VDRL: Screens for syphilis, which can sometimes be associated with hair loss.

2. Autoimmune Panel

Tests: ANA, ESR, hs-CRP

Assesses potential autoimmune activity and inflammation in the body that may be relevant to certain hair and scalp conditions.

  1. ANA: Screens for antinuclear antibodies that may be associated with autoimmune diseases.
  2. ESR: Measures a general marker of inflammation.
  3. hs-CRP: Measures low levels of C-reactive protein, a marker of inflammation.

3. Basic Health Panel

Tests: Electrolytes, BUN, Creatinine, Liver Function, HbA1c, Lipid Profile

Provides an overview of general health to help the doctor assess factors that may affect overall well-being and treatment planning.

  1. Electrolytes: Assess important minerals that help maintain fluid balance and normal body function.
  2. BUN and Creatinine: Evaluate kidney function.
  3. Liver Function: Assesses liver health.
  4. HbA1c: Measures average blood glucose levels over approximately the past 2–3 months.
  5. Lipid Profile: Measures cholesterol and triglyceride levels to assess cardiovascular and metabolic health.

4. Hormonal Panel

Tests: Free Testosterone, DHEA-S, Prolactin

Evaluates selected hormones that may be relevant to certain patterns of hair loss, particularly when hormonal imbalances are suspected.

  1. Free Testosterone: Measures the unbound form of testosterone, which may be relevant in certain cases of androgen-related hair loss.
  2. DHEA-S: Assesses an androgen hormone produced mainly by the adrenal glands.
  3. Prolactin: Measures prolactin levels, as elevated levels may be associated with hormonal disturbances.

5. Thyroid Panel

Tests: TSH, Free T4, Free T3

Provides a more comprehensive assessment of thyroid function. Both an underactive and an overactive thyroid may be associated with hair thinning or hair loss.

  1. TSH: Helps assess how the brain regulates thyroid hormone production.
  2. Free T4: Measures the available free thyroxine hormone.
  3. Free T3: Measures the available free triiodothyronine hormone.

Important Note: Not everyone needs every blood test. At ROOTFORM Clinic, the doctor will assess your hair and scalp condition, medical history, and individual concerns to determine which tests are appropriate. Blood tests support the diagnostic process but cannot identify the cause of hair loss on their own.
